The Victorian Military Society

The Victorian Military Society (VMS) came into being in 1974, founded by the late John Crouch RIBA, to encourage interest in Victorian military history. This aim was then expanded in cover campaigns in the early 20th century. The dates covered are 1837 to 1914, and although mainly involved with the forces of the British Empire and its antagonists, it may include references to other military units.

The Society produces a quarterly publication, Soldiers of the Queen, which includes research articles as well as other material. Matters which are immediately newsworthy are published in the newsletter, the Soldier's Small Book.
