Founded in 1991, Tunbridge Wells FHS supports those who are researching their family history both in Tunbridge Wells and in the immediate surrounding area in Kent and East Sussex.
With a growing membership of around three hundred, the Society aims to encourage genealogical study, preserve records and publish the results of family history research undertaken.
The twelve parishes of principal interest are Ashurst, Bidborough, Pembury, Penshurst, Southborough and Speldhurst - all in Kent; Frant, Rotherfield, Ticehurst, Wadhurst and Withyham - all in East Sussex. Lamberhurst is also included and references have been found in both counties.
