Three chapters (out of eighteen) record Birmingham’s military contribution, but the main thrust of the book is concerned with Municipal activities - Mobilisation of Labour, Munitions manufacture, Care of the Wounded, Fund Raising, and so on.

Contains about a dozen photographs. Excellent background material.
