Being a Brief Sketch of the Life of Sampson Rogers
Description: 98 pages, one photograph of Sampson Rogers. No index, but as all current releases from Belerion Books are searchable this is not a matter.
This is the privately printed biography of Sampson Rogers of Cornwall who emigrated to America. It details the family history in and around Helston, with some of the family emigrating to Australia, some remaining home in Cornwall. Sampson and family emigrated in 1866, first to Pennsylvania then on to Mineral Point Wisconsin, home to many of their neighbours from back home in Cornwall, finally settling down to a successful business in Chicago.
A fascinating and very detailed look at an emigrant life in the land of opportunity. Even if you aren’t connected to the Rogers family or even have family in Mineral Point or Chicago it is a fascinating read and look back at things in those days just after the American Civil War. Perhaps your family is one of the many mentioned in association with the Rogers family, through marriage, friendship or business.
