Sampson and family emigrated in 1866, first to Pennsylvania then on to Mineral Point Wisconsin, home to many of their neighbours from back home in Cornwall, finally settling down to a successful business in Chicago.

A fascinating and very detailed look at an emigrant life in the land of opportunity. Even if you aren’t connected to the Rogers family or even have family in Mineral Point or Chicago it is a fascinating read and look back at things in those days just after the American Civil War.
