John Speed's Derbyshire shows a long, narrow county with the Peak District in the North. It is bordered to the left of the page by the heraldic coats of arms of the Earls of Derby and a plan of the town of Derby with a key to sites. On the right is the title, and a compass rose surrounded by very decorative scroll work. There is a drawing of Buxton showing the tower and St. Anne's well.
