The Parish Register Transcription Society was formed in April 1999, with the aim of publishing transcripts of Parish Registers and other manuscripts / records of use to researchers in family history.

The Society has no particular ties to any county and will consider publishing any suitable material which is of genealogical interest.

The Society does not have a subscribed membership as such but consists of a very small group of volunteer transcribers who donate their work for publication. As a non-profit making organisation, all proceeds from the sale of published material are used to fund further transcription and publication projects.

The first publications were launched in November 1999. To become a volunteer transcriber and help with this valuable work, please contact the PRTS Secretary.

To enable us to keep prices and costs to a minimum, the society has resolved to use the smallest and most economical medium to publicise its transcripts, this is in the form of the Mini CD, (3½”/80mm), files are stored on the CD’s in Pdf File format.

The Mini Cd is exactly the same as a normal CD, except it is physically smaller and has a smaller storage capacity, (180MB). The Mini CD fits into normal CD Drives into the centre recess of the drive tray or on the central spindle on Laptops with retractable CD drive trays.

Please be aware that on Laptops with a SLOT TYPE CD Drive, the Mini CD will not fit and are not suitable.
