John Selden (1584-1654) was a historian and English parliamentarian during the Stuart (the reign of James I and Charles I of England) and English Civil War period. He was briefly imprisoned with other MPs and continued to support the rights of Parliament in its struggle with the crown. In his Table Talks (first published several years after his death) he unmercifully mocked at everything and everyone. The copy from which the contents of the CD were scanned was published by Cassell & Company in 1887.
