I have a qualification in Local History. I have extensive experience of assessing people\'s family papers and producing a research plan and/or family tree with a full printed proof-read report. I offer hourly genealogical research and have ready access to all the available indexes in Record Offices.
I usually research in Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Yorkshire. As a genealogist I compile a pedigree from many primary source materials including:- Civil Registration Indexes of Birth, Marriage and Death; Census Returns of Lancashire, Cheshire and Yorkshire 1841-1901; Probate searches from the 1200s to the present day; Marriage Licences from Medieval Times to the Present day; Surname Dictionaries; Parish Registers of baptism, marriage and burial 1500s to present day for deposited parish registers; Parish Chest Records - Churchwardens accounts, Poor Law Records, apprenticeship records, Bastardy Papers, Removal orders, other parish papers including Tithe Maps and other parish papers; Bishops Transcripts [BTs]; Non-Anglican Registers [Nonconformists] including Roman Catholics, Quakers, Methodists, Independents etc. Court Papers Lancashire Assizes and Quarter Sessions expanding on the information given in indexes by using indictment rolls and lists of prisoners etc.; Coroners Records; Newspapers [Specific date of the event usually needed]; Electoral Registers [Specific address and date usually needed]; Professions and services; Directories; Biographies; Shipping records; Enclosure Awards.
