This lists innumerable guides and indexes to sources at the national level, and is complemented by separate volumes for each county. English Genealogy includes: Introductory guides to sources, encyclopaedias & dictionaries, how to organize yourself, bibliography, archives, genealogical directories, biographical directories & pedigrees, names, births marriages & deaths, memorial inscriptions, probate records, official lists of names (e.g. the census etc) trade directories, religious records, occupations, local, administrative & legal records, migration, palaeography, local history, newspapers, genealogical journals.
