From Strangers to Citizens, the integration of immigrant communities in Great Britain, Ireland and Colonial America, 1550-1750.

The 57 papers of the eponymous International conference held in London in 2000 to commemorate Edward VI’s 1550 grant of the Charter to the Stranger churches, which gave the alien congregations freedom of association and worship. The wide scope of this book embraces the experiences of Dutch, Flemish, German, Huguenot, Jewish, African and Levatine Strangers, as they moved into Britain, Ireland and North America. There is particular emphasis on Huguenot history and integration, as well as the lasting legacy of the Huguenots. It is now available at the original conference launch price.
