Supplied by Wotton under Edge Historical Society. This history of Wotton-under-Edge was a limited edition print of 1000 copies and is now out of print. The Society has a small number of brand new copies available for sale. This is the history of Wotton-under-Edge from the time when the Romans were here through the years when it was an Anglo-Saxon farming settlement and then a favourite manor and hunting grounds for the medieval Lords of Berkeley. Until a dramatic collapse in the early nineteenth century it developed as an important centre of the Woollen Industry. Today it is the home of the new High Technology, but it retains its character as a pleasant, delightfully situated Cotswold town. By R Perry Published by Panes Associates, Wotton-under-Edge, Glos., 1986.
