Manor of Coningsby Court Roll 1731-1854

Ref: LIN-048C

Supplied by Lincolnshire FHS.

At each court session the "Homage" (tenants of the manor) would sit in judgement of wrongdoers, who had not respected the established customs. The Steward would deal with the transfer of manorial lands, from one tenant or "copyholder" to the next.

These records provide an insight into the life in mid- Lincolnshire, in the eighteenth & nineteenth cenuries. Copyhold land passed from one relative to another, so several generations may be found.

A list of all surnames, placenames (other than Coningsby) and a Glossary of Terms are also included.
