Oh, the sun is shining and the garden is calling me, so after a quick cup of tea, I shall don my gardening clothes, grab my tools and go off to do some serious damage to the weeds.

Frank has gone out on his tractor to top the fields for the first time this year. This will stimulate the grass, so we should get a really thick sward for hay making later on in June.

Little Lamb (I have no imagination when it comes to choosing names!) has now been moved to a new pen out in the top paddock. The pen is small enough that I can catch her without too much difficulty, but large enough so she can wander around, get some exercise and nibble the grass. Hopefully, the Hebridean lambs will be arriving in a few weeks, so Little Lamb will have some company and they will all be able to play together.

The turkeys all wandered over to gobble at and greet their new neighbour, but the chickens were far too busy. They all ignored the lamb and just carried on scratching, pecking and doing their own thing.

I did visit the poultry auction today in Sticker and was sorely tempted. However, I managed to restrain myself and came away with empty boxes. A first for me!

Over the past few weeks, I have dragged Frank to Truro Cattle Market a few times, hoping to buy a couple of rearing calves. Alas, the prices were very high and I was really disappointed. Chatting to the farmers, I was astounded to learn that week old calves have been fetching the astronomical price of £300 per head. Unbelievable!

Michael Mudge came here yesterday, and at last we have the firm date of 16th. April for laying the new driveway. Crumbs, I seem to have been waiting ages for this job to be done and it is difficult to believe that the wait will soon be over.

I am advised by SEO experts that Google loves text on web sites. To that end, my chum Jan, has been helping me out writing lots of new page descriptions. When you have a moment, do please take a peek and let me have your opinion.

Oh yes, I must tell you that I was doing some 'housekeeping' in the shop and came across this, '1931 Classification of Occupations' Click Here and realised what an invaluable amount of help it offers. The CD is produced by David, of Your Old Books & Maps, so the quality, as with all of his products, will be excellent. Of course, David is well known throughout the world as a producer of military information, Click Here but just occasionally, one finds a golden nugget like this in amongst the other treasures.

Thank you for the email, Lynn. I am delighted you enjoy reading about my antics in the newsletter. I do love praise as it is so good for my ego! Any time you feel like dropping me a line or two, please do as I should love to hear from you. My personal email address is pam@parishchest.com so very easy to remember.

I have received several emails asking me if I can send the Parish Chest newsletter out twice a month. It is very flattering that you like reading my prattle, and I know I am a bit of a blabbermouth, but I am not sure I would be able to find enough time to maintain this. However, I will send this one and see what the response is. Yes, I will send a newsletter at the end of the month as usual.

The tea is made and I have my cuppa and biscuit, so if you are ready, let's get stuck in to the list of latest products to arrive at Parish Chest.
