Boldre Village Booklet - Print

Along with a useful map showing Boldre and its contiguous settlements, are descriptions of the places of worship, past and present. Of particular interest is the connection with William Gilpin, it’s famous vicar, and the non-conformist references. Surnames of Boldre inhabitants are sprinkled throughout, from school master to inn keeper and landowner, and sources as diverse as Hearth Taxes, Enclosure Awards and Trade Directories are explored. Were your ancestors New Foresters? If so, this booklet on the history and people of Boldre is a fascinating read.
