Hampshire Genealogical Society

East Worldham is situated approximately two miles east of Alton and nine miles south west of Farnham.

Evidence suggests that East Worldham’s 13th Century church may have replaced an earlier Saxon or even Roman building. Read about the 14th Century effigy that is thought to be a memorial to the wife of Geoffrey Chaucer.

This twelve page booklet includes a map and is packed with historical information about large houses, the church, non-conformists, the school, inn and contiguous parishes. Many local surnames of landowners, innkeepers, farm workers and school mistresses are also included.

To assist with your research, useful references for East Worldham documents, records and photographs held at the Hampshire Record Office are given throughout, together with website addresses for more information.
