History of Scarborough

History of Scarborough

Ref: HIN-65

Supplied by Yorkshire CD Books.

The History of Scarborough (1882) by Joseph Brogden Baker
and
The History of Scarborough (1931) by Arthur Rowntree (and others)

Two books with the same titles, but written 50 years apart.

There is little duplication between them, for instance Baker's covers Prehistoric times, whereas Rowntree's starts with the Roman period. There is good coverage of the Castle, port and harbour along with churches, non-conformists etc.

Unfortunately, there is no index in the earlier book (not a problem on the CD, as that is searchable). There are over 500 pages in each of the books.

Please note that these are books scanned onto CDs, not the actual books.
