Kilmeston Village Booklet - Print

This booklet describes a village full of history, with connections to royalty when the Hampshire Hunt was established here.

Along with a useful map showing Kilmeston and its contiguous settlements, are descriptions of the places of worship, past and present. Of particular interest are details of the non-conformist congregations and possible links to the Catholic Tichborne family.

Surnames of Kilmeston past inhabitants are sprinkled throughout, from school master to landowner; and sources as diverse as Hearth Taxes, Enclosure Awards and Trade Directories are explored.

Particularly useful are the Hampshire Archive references to the manor and estates. This booklet on the history and people of Kilmeston is a fascinating read for those with connections to the village.
