Lathom Park Almshouses - 100 Years of Charity (Digital download version)

The story of the Lathom Almshouse Charity can only be told in the context of the history of
the Lathom Park Almonry itself. The Almonry buildings which can be seen today are from two
periods of history, each constructed with a different purpose in mind, but both based on the
premise of charitable giving by the local landed gentry of the time.

This overview of the history of the Almonry gives important insights into the creation of the
Lathom Almshouse Charity in 1926 by a philanthropically minded local committee and the
most recent story of this ancient charitable foundation.
