This booklet contains a transcription of the births and deaths recorded in the Leighton Buzzard Union Workhouse registers held at Bedfordshire and Luton Archives and Records Service (formerly Bedfordshire Record Office).  All birth entries include the date of the child's birth, whether legitimate or illegitimate, name(s) of parent(s) and the parish to which belonging.  Some entries also include a baptism date.  Death entries include date, name, age and parish to which the individual was chargeable and in some cases the day and/or time of death is noted.  Leighton Buzzard Union was formed in 1835 and initially comprised the parishes of Billington, Eggington, Heath and Reach, Leighton Buzzard and Stanbridge [all Bedfordshire] and Cheddington, Edlesborough, Grove, Ivinghoe, Linslade, Mentmore, Soulbury, Slapton, Stoke Hammond and Wing [all Buckinghamshire].  Eaton Bray [Bedfordshire] was added in 1845 and Hockliffe and Tilsworth [both Bedfordshire] were added in 1899.
