This book covers more or less the same places as those in the Harry Speight's book, but deals also with York and some more of the places within the Ainsty (i.e. it follows the Ouse up to York). Contains lots of photographs and drawings.

The History of Sherburn and Cawood, by W. Wheater: The History of the parishes of Sherburn (in Elmet) and Cawood, with notices of Wistow, Saxton, Towton &c. The book covers additionally: Micklefield, Newthorpe, Barkston, Steeton, Huddleston, Lotherton, Rest Park, with chapters on the Gascoingnes, Vavasours, and a list of eminent men.

There is lots of detail, extracts from parish registers and visitations, transcriptions of church memorials and lots more.
