Whilst Selborne's most famous resident was the Revd. Gilbert WHITE, the naturalist, the village was also the centre of the Swing Riots. The Selborne Workhouse Riot in 1830 led to the trial and transportation of local men. Their names and details of their sentences are given within the booklet.

To assist with your research, useful references for Selborne documents and records held at the Hampshire Record Office are given throughout, together with other sources and website addresses for more information.
