The survival of all four of the census returns, or population surveys, made for a specific town or village following their introduction by the Act of 1800 is unusual.  Also unusual is the inclusion of the names of all persons in a household, but such is the case in the 1831 return for the Oxfordshire parish of Stonesfield.  This file contains a transcription of the names contained within the four census returns together with a map of the parish and a brief description of the slating industry with which the parish has been associated for centuries.
