The People of Olney

This booklet contains a miscellany of records for the Buckinghamshire parish of Olney which is situated in the extreme north of the county on the borders of both Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.  It lies four miles north of Newport Pagnell, twelve miles south east of Northampton, twelve miles south of Wellingborough and twelve miles west of Bedford.  Amongst the records included are Settlement Certificates, Settlement Examinations, Removal Orders, Bastardy Papers, Licensed Victuallers of 1577, 1773 and 1784, Poll Books for 1710 and 1722, Land Tax Assessment for 1801, Olney Troop of North Bucks Yeomanry 1808, Trade Directories for 1823-4 and 1842 and a Register of Electors for 1832.
