Wantage Wesleyan Circuit Miscellany

This volume contains a transcription of some of the surviving records relating to the Wantage Wesleyan Methodist Circuit.  Included are a Register of Baptisms 1829-1837 with entries from Wantage, Childrey, Westcott, Letcombe Regis, West Hendred, Farnborough and Sparsholt; a Register of Baptisms in Steventon Chapel 1876-1921; and a Circuit Register of Baptisms 1913-1922 including events which took place in chapels at Blewbury, Charney, Childrey, Didcot, Letcombe Bassett, Wantage and West Hendred. Also included in this volume are Burials in the Ground of the Wesleyan Chapel at Harwell 1862-1915 together with a List of Graves with names in regular order; Lists of Members of Childrey Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School for 1882, 1885 and 1888; Wantage Wesleyan Church Pew Rents for 1900, 1913, 1927 and 1939; and Wantage Wesleyan Band of Hope Attendance Register 1887-1898.  The Band of Hope was an organization for children under 16 with the aim of preventing them from starting to drink alcohol.
